Product Description
French 17th Century wooden parquet floor panels inspire the Hand Pieced Parquet Collection. The jargon parquet comes from the French word parchet, meaning a small enclosed space. _x000D_Parquet floor became a work of art over time; glued into3 ft. squares these hand cut pieces of wood were scraped, scrubbed, sanded and polished. Complete designs were created laying the wooden floors, taking much time and skill. This made parquet floors extremely expensive and they appeared only in the homes of the most affluent and royal families. The handmade skillful finish of the Hand Pieced Parquet collection reflects the craft of those who spent long hours lying parquet floors, and the grandeur of the bygone era of the17th Century royals. Wire brushed open grain elm on gunmetal iron base.
